“Art & Earth: Connection & Care brings together three bodies of work exploring ocean, earth and floral environments. Inspired by coral reefs, the local landscape and nearby gardens, these tactile paintings celebrate the beauty and interconnectedness of nature while reflecting on our shared responsibility to care for it.”
Launching mid-April at Gallery 11:11: a fundraising draw in support of 1 Million Women, featuring an original artwork (Coral Wonderland) plus a 5 night Thredbo escape, with the prize drawn at a later date.

1 Million Women (1MW) is a women-led climate movement inspiring women to live climate action in everything they do. We know the seriousness of climate change, how it is impacting our planet and people and we use active optimism and active hope as a strategy. We are an organisation that empowers women, we share experiences and knowledge, and build communities that foster resilience, connection and accelerate solutions.
1MW fills a needed gap in the climate space. We reach women whose voices may not get heard. We reach women who may not be engaged yet on climate and bring them in. We know that women are uniquely connected and that once engaged, they bring their partners, family and friends with them. We empower women to share their authentic stories with political leaders to affect change.

Melony Kara Smirniotis, known for her textural expression, is driven by a desire to create art that resonates emotionally with the viewer. Nature serves as the central subject matter. Her artistic practice is characterized by an openness to experimentation, constantly pushing her to explore new tools and mediums. As a textural Artist, her signature style is identified by the detailed layers of tactile markings on the canvas that play with the light as the viewer moves around the composition.
