April delights..

Well, if I wasn’t already on cloud nine after the Youth Art Prize exhibition, I certainly was after the incredible weekend of exhibiting my Ocean / Coral Textures series.

Thank you to all for your wonderful feedback and affirmation regarding both exhibitions, they were equally personal for me. In regard to the Youth Art Prize, I believe that Penny King would have been delighted with the outcome and I feel so inspired to continue this event, now an annual event, in her memory. The coral series was also rather personal. It was so important for me to adequately translate my many life changing experiences of The Great Barrier Reef. Every individual work celebrated a moment in time, intended to express my absolute awe of the underwater beauty.

One of the inspirational ladies that I travelled around the Whitsundays with, knowing how moved I was by the experience, recently shared this article with me which was a firm reminder of the need to take action regarding preservation and support the restoration of the reef. ARTICLE

In summary, April has been inspiring on so many levels, with so many magical moments and support from near and far regarding upcoming exhibitions and much excitement specifically around the June Affordable Art Fair. Stay tuned for your free tickets!

Last but not least, to end a fabulous week, I was introduced to a delightful young Artist by the name of Becky Jensen. She is a local textile crochet artist who primarily creates small fibre animals. Becky is self taught and started her own business. She finds her process cathartic and meditative as well as fulfilling her love for creating and enjoys working with a wide range of yarns. She is currently taking commissions. Contact smallstitchau@gmail.com for further information.
