Original exhibition preview also featuring garden sculpture (pine cone) by Dave Haves (further information below).

Congratulations Murray on your 4th solo exhibition with Gallery 11:11.

“You never disappoint! I always wonder.. how will he top the last exhibition and then it happens.. those pen/ink works.. can’t wait to see what is to come.”

- Dan

“My most recent exhibition, Small Stories, includes several pen, ink and watercolour works inspired by recent travels. While I've used Central West landscapes as my focus, I've used Japanese inks and narrative to give me a foundation for what I call my blue series.

Grand Pa Tree and Winged Victory of Bilpin both have moons added to the background. This is a nod to a book I couldn't put down - IQ84 by Haruki Mirikami - a wildly popular Japanese novelist who, in turn was heavily influenced by western culture, particularly Russian music and literature.

IQ84 was recommended by a young Korean friend. I can't help feeling a certain circularity about the way stories can inspire across generations, cultures and experiences. Other influences include writers such as Zane Grey's Riders of the Purple Sage and Keigo Higashino's A Death in Tokyo.

I've come to the conclusion that there are universal narratives that influence and entertain. Small and large stories that  go some way in describing the human condition and to add definition to what we see and experience.” Murray Walsh
